Cast iron skillet pizza

Anytime I'm looking for a sumptuous recipe I ALWAYS go to my best friend Mika's blog first and this time was no exception.  If you've been following me for very long then you know that Mika and I met 15 years ago when we both adopted our beautiful daughters from South Korea.   We've developed a friendship that's more like family and enjoy spending as much time with them as we can.
Mika and Bailey on the right and Kenzie and I are on the left.  This was a Dillon picnic when the girls were just around 1 year.

Mika has this amazing blog called Mika's Pantry and she is definitely a foodie, if you want the most amazing recipes click on her link now!  She makes these pizza's that are so mouth watering and are to die for.  They have a pizza oven grill and make up new pizza's all the time.  Last time we visited she made a BBQ pizza that was out of this world.  Now, she's into cast iron cooking and of course she HAD to make pizza in it and I had to try my hand at it too.

First I placed the dough in a greased 12" skillet and then covered it with a disposable shower cap.  Shower cap???  I buy them in bulk for really cheap and then use them like you would those more expensive covers from the grocery store.  They're great for 1/2 a watermelon or anything that's an awkward size and shape.

So the big secret that everyone shared with me was that you need a very hot oven like 450-500 degrees so the crust get a nice crunch to it.  For more info click here and read Mika's detailed instructions!

It's really deep dish and delicious!

Thanks for reading,

Twitter and the F bomb

I've recently come across the need to have some guest posts on my blog and I asked several of my friends for some help and of course wonderful friends that they are, they agreed to write a guest post for me.  This is from my blogger friend ShaRhonda at The 4-Crow's. Head over and check out her blog when you get a chance.  We typically review a lot of the same things, we both review for a christian company.  She also blogs about her faith in God, her adorable children, crafts and she also blogs as Mrs Hart for The Real Housewives of Oklahoma.  Sit back with a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy this post by ShaRhonda.  Oh, BTW go to her blog and find how she got her name...I just love that story!

This guest post was written by ShaRhonda at The 4-Crow's
My favorite prime time television show recently began its 6th season. I haven't missed an episode since this show began. I won't tell you the name of it. But, I will tell you the network it airs on. Lifetime, you know Television for Women- so it boasts. My husband now watches this show with me. I laugh, cry, and even have a Twitter group of friends that I tweet back and forth with on some Sunday nights about the show, using the hashtag #armywives (oops, just gave it away). @ArmyWives has 56,883 followers including me, my group and several of the actors from the show. They only follow back 863, I, @the4crows, am included.
 Probably not after this post.
The second episode of season six aired March 11. One of the wives left the show. My husband made fun of me because I cried. My only self composed tweet for the night was this:
Then I start reading through some of the other tweets in the query. I ran across this one from one of the actors of the show who was live tweeting with the fans.
(I doctored it on purpose to protect the identity and because I didn't want the word completely reposted on my post)
Honestly, I was appalled. I know this is just a TV show. I also know that it is nothing like true Army life. I know that some people do cuss in the Army. I know that Twitter is free press. I know that some of you do not even care what I have to say or even how I feel, but I do feel strongly about this subject. One of my social media rules is that if I am following you and if you type "that" word, I unfollow you. I know you don't know me @ArmyWifeActor and that you could care less what I think or do, same as the rest of your followers and I will probably be ridiculed and get hate tweets because I choose to speak up and take a stand for my personal beliefs. Another word could have been used. That word wasn't even used in proper context, if there is such a thing for that word. Because @ArmyWives follows me I was able to Direct Message them. Here is my DM to them. At the time of this post I have not had a reply from them.
What would have you done in this situation? Do you have a similar social media policy against cursing? Have you ever taken a stand similar to this?
I will agree with all of you that I have a choice what to watch and not to watch and what to participate and not to participate in as far as television shows and social media is concerned. I hope that I can continue to watch my favorite show without further incidences such as this.

Secret Keep Girl tour-Pajama party

Kenzie and I had a mommy daughter date night with a group of mommies and their daughters from out homeschool group.  It was a fun night!  We all wore our PJ's and met at Cracker Barrel and then car pooled to the event.
I highly recommend this tour for anyone with a "tween" daughter between the ages of 8-13, they will LOVE it,  its a high-energy, fun event designed to reach girls before they are teenagers and while at an age to be more receptive to the modesty presentation.
Here is the link to Secret Keeper Girl, they have games, Truth or Bare fashion test, and an area for MOMs and an area for GIRLS!

Christmas card traditions

We have a Christmas card tradition at our house and I just wanted to share it with you! Every year after Christmas is over and all of the decorations are down I take all of the cards and every night when we have dinner we pull a card out of a basket that I store all the cards in and we pray for that family. It reminds us to pray for all of our friends and family and we get to see your picture or at least read a little note about how your family is!

If you didn't get a card from us in 2009 then here it is!

Makenzie's new friend

Haleigh and Makenzie at Korean culture camp

Makenzie made a new friend at Korea camp and they have been emailing each other back and forth. I only met her for just a minute and we met her parents also. The whole family seems really sweet and hopefully we will get to know them better through the years! Well, it turns out that Makenzie just happened to be in the back ground of a picture they had of Haleigh that was taken in Korea! We were just thrilled to see this picture. So, I know their friendship was meant to be because they were actually at Eastern in the same room at the same time! Attached is the picture of them as infants and now as 8 yr olds!

On Thursday we went with our homeschool group to see the movie Horton hears a Who. It was really funny. Then, we came home and I started moving things around in the school room and some how I hurt my back! OUCH!!! I think it's a pulled muscle but I didn't make it to the Dr.'s so I don't know for sure.

This weekend we had the family game day/Birthday party. It was a lot of fun. Friends from Iowa were here and all of the family that lives in the area. We played teh Wii and they had a game of dominoes going and I think Kellee won.

We are trying to decided on a date for the next game night....if you didn't make it to this one please come to the next one!!!! We would LOVE to have you join us. The food was yummy but the cake and especially the pies were the yummiest....Connie send me the recipe please.

Visting friends!

We went to OKC this weekend to visit some of our dearest friends...we went through an adoption workshop together and then met them at an adoption function and have been the best of friends since then. Bay and Kenzie are close in age and have a lot in common and when they were little we used to call them the twins because they looked similar. Here is a current pic of the girls...they don't look like twins anymore but they are best of friends.

We had so much fun hanging out and they even had a fire in their backyard to we could make smores!! YUMMY!!! Kylan had fun playing with their 3 dogs...he was in doggie heaven!
