Arlington, TX for nationals

Last week the kids and I headed off to Arlington, TX for Stage One dance nationals.  We had a great time but it just wasn't the same without Kevin, he's so much fun and the leader in our family but he had to work. Although he was able to fly in Friday night and join us for a fun filled weekend.
The Legacy Project dance team, I'm going to blog more about The Legacy Project next week...you won't want to miss it!

Miss Shayna working on makeup

A cute doll

A clown and his friend

I'm pretty sure that these two = Trouble (notice the capital T)

I have a video of the kids dance to share with you, they worked really hard this past year to get to this point and we are really proud of them! Also, a huge THANKS to everyone that encourages her in this hip hop passion.  The kids have worked hard but without Shayna and Adam it wouldn't have all come together so please remember to check out The Legacy Project!

After the kids competed at the shootout(this is saved for the best of the best) on Saturday we went to Pappacito's which is one of our favorite restaurants, actually we love all the Pappas restaurants!

The Legoland Discovery Center in Grapevine, TX (near Dallas) was so fun!  I recommend that you pre-purchase your tickets to get in so you don't have to wait in the long line and you can do that here.  Enjoy some pics of this fun play place.

The back of this mixer really turned...very cool!

Waiting in line to see the 4-D movie

Ok, I'm not into sports so I can't remember who this famous basketball player is but Kevin knew. He's all made out of Lego's and is WAY taller then Kevin.

This was my favorite part.  Miniland was so amazing!  I took a bunch of pics of it but I will spare you all the details.

Legoland Cafe

They had 2 rides and this was one of them.

Buzz was built totally out of Legos too.

We met some friends that we hadn't seen in about 6 years for lunch on Sunday.  Kevin graduated with Erik and he was in our wedding.  He's now married and has a cutie patootie daughter.

Makenzie had been patient this whole time but deep down in her little heart she was dreaming of this...
She said she was in shock that she got to go to the American Girl Store

We had heard that the line to the Salon was normally very long and sometimes up to 6 hours of waiting but we ended up coming at the right time because we had NO WAIT!  Josefina got a chair right away.

This was the finished result the fishtail braid.  It looks a LOT better, Josefina has been well loved and her hair has taken some torture and abuse but it's nice and tidy now.

Galveston Beach

A couple of weeks ago we headed out for Galveston to go to that national dance competition and I wasn't very excited about the location.  EWWWW, the Galveston beach is kinda gross, at least the last time we were there BUT if you know us then you know we are going to have fun no matter where we go or what we do!  WE had such a great time at the beach skim boarding, boogie boarding, playing in the waves, looking at sea creatures, hanging out with friends and we were also very happy to report that no oil was spotted in Galveston from the oil spill!

If interested in dance please be sure to check out the dance team Kenzie's on and their ministry The Legacy Project!

Zombies

Getting a pep talk from Shayna and Adam and then team prayer (so proud of Shayna for team prayer time)

Candy, Shayna and Adam...waiting. Shayna's shirt says I Love Zombies

Some of the zombie girls

Waiting on the latex to dry

Zombie moms and siblings, some of us dressed up to support the team! LOL, we looked good that day....LOL
Lillie's shirt says Zombie Mom and on the back Go Danielle, it was so cute!

The kids being dramatic after their big win!

Kenzie with the team trophy

This was Sunday at the finale

My little Princess is looking a lil frightening

Shayna working her magic with the makeup

This was the last time for the zombies to dance together (or so we thought) and they were AMAZING!!! 1st place trophy, Excellence in Dance award and then they were asked to come back on Sunday and dance in the finale at the dance off. They totally rocked it! Hard work and dedication by all of the team and especially from Shayna. We ♥ you Shayna!!! This team had so many obstacles to overcome, they had 3 or 4 members drop off the team and they had to add new members in that had to learn the dance and 1 week before nationals we had a new guy join and he had to learn the whole dance in just a week...way to go Blake, Stacy and Shayna for making that work out!
Shayna got some of that liquid latex and painted ugly, nasty scars all over their faces and then put the zombie makeup overtop and it was NASTY but looked great! These kids were really dedicated by coming in 2-3 hrs early to get hair, makeup and costumes on before each performance!

Alien Invasion

This is the hip hop team that Kylan dances on. We just got home from nationals in Galveston, TX and they got 2nd place! WE are so proud of these kids, they had a lot of things to change 2 weeks before nationals Ember, the cute girl in the spaceship broke her ankle/foot and Shayna had to figure out a way to put her back into the dance. So Ember's parents made a spaceship for her to sit in while the kids danced around her...she was the alien queen!

National dance competition-2009

Here comes some major braggin from a proud mama so please just leave tons of comments and tell me you love my braggin...it makes me feel good! LOL! Kenzie is in this dance group in Tulsa called Fearless Force and let me tell you that they rocked the National competition in Branson, MO and won 2nd place! We are so super duper proud of them because it's the first year that many of them have EVER danced and they only started learning their dance in October and when they first competed they only had 4 in their dance crew and now it's 6. We just adore their dance teachers Shayna and Adame...they are sent from God above to teach our kids to dance! I'm not kidding either they truly have a heart to reach out to kids through dance and they have more patience then ANYONE I have EVER seen and they LOVE these kids like crazy! Anyway, if I can ever get the video to load I will add it on here so you can see it but until then you will just have to settle for the photos!
