Spider

The kids found this spider in our yard today! Does anyone know what it is? It doesn't look that big in the picture but it's actually about 3"-4" long and about 2" wide and it's black and yellow. The yellow doesn't show up very well on the picture!
UPDATE: We found out that it's acutally only an Argiope Spider. Click here to learn more

We have TONS of those things around here....stick a mirror up to it and watch it start swinging in it's web....

We call them Zipper spiders due to the "zipper" in the web. They are harmless...even though they don't look it.

Keep watching it....it will probably get REALLY big w/ eggs....the mate is tiny.
