I must admit that I am addicted to HGTV!!!!

I am so addicted to home decorating and craft shows! I just love to watch HGTV and wonder how those people have the time to think up all of these neat ideas! Sometimes I actually get off of my booty and try out some of the ideas...I love when they turn out cute!
I also love Trading Spaces...it's so much better this season since Paige Davis is back. Does anyone else just love this show???

We are moving Makenzie into a different room...the room we made for Gigi when she comes to visit us. We are trying to decide how to decorate it. Her current room is so cute with a willow tree painted in the corner and a fence nailed to the wall but she's getting "too old" for that look now. We are thinking about painting it pink with chocolate polka dots or lime green stripes...hmmm, let me know if you have any ideas. We are looking for a room that would appeal to an almost 8 yr old so I need all of you experts out there to help me

I think it'd be really cute pink w/brown polka dots & stripes! The green would be cute too, but harder to match. Either way it'll be adorable!

I'm addicted to HGTV too! Trading Spaces is one of our (this includes dh) fav shows...and yes, it IS better with Paige. When I watch those shows, my mind is always saying something like, "Now why didn't *I* think of that?!"

Forgot to mention...about those polka dots:
You can get some clingy wallpaper dots to try and see if you like it. We used a blue and green set in Em's room as a trial. We ended up leaving them because she liked it and it's much easier than painting a circle with a big stencil. I've seen them in brown too. The best thing about them is that when you want a different look, you just easily peel them off!

I LOVE HGTV, too! My favorite decorating shows are Decorating Cents, Divine Design & Extreme Home Makeover.

Did you happen to see the room I painted for Tiffany Wilson (she goes to Freedom) in my "My Paintings" slideshow on my blog? It has a dark brown painted 1/3 of the way down, then an apple green stripe & light pink the rest of the way to the ceiling. Then I painted great big polka dots layered on top of each other in brown, apple green & dark pink. It turned out pretty cute.

I also painted my girls room a medium shade of pink with layered big polka dots in dark pink & lime green. (Those pics are on my slide show, too.) If I had to do it over again, I would have chosen a lighter pink for the base coat so it wouldn't seem so overwhelmingly pink!

I can't wait to see what you do with Mackenzie's room - whatever you do, I know it will be so cute!

BTW, you may already know this, but an easy way to do polka dots is to trace things around your house - i.e., - a plastic lid, a large cookie platter or even a hula hoop!

Jennifer,
I think pale pink with brown polka dots would be cute (not stripes I hate stripes on the wall and just think of how hard that is to do). How about accent pieces (lamps, throw pillows, a throw rug, etc.) in the green. Not a lot of green just a little. It will POP!

I love interior decorating and love Decorating Cents, Divine Design, Extreme Makeover,Color Splash. Unfortunately HGTV is getting too many real estate shows. I don't watch Trading Spaces because of Hildie, she's a hack.
Miss niece, we have a lot more in common than I realized. We should talk more on the phone.
