Cherokee Heritage Center

We went on this fun field trip with our friend Christy over at Mom of 2 Girly Girlz

We didn't really know what to expect and loved what we found.  It's absolutely gorgeous in the fall and we picked a beautiful day.  Look at all of those fall colors on the trees!

Expect to learn a lot about the Cherokee culture, it was fascinating. We loved the  Diligwa village and the tour guide knew so much, she was a wealth of knowledge.

Diligwa — 1 Time travel to Diligwa, a 1710 Cherokee Village, that opened June 3, 2013, on the historic grounds of the Cherokee Heritage Center. The new outdoor living exhibit provides guests with an enhanced experience of authentic Cherokee life and history. Diligwa is the most authentic Cherokee experience in the world based on life in the early 1700s. Diligwa is a name derivative of Tellico, a village in the east that was once the principal Cherokee town and is now underwater.

The ancient village has 5 stations:

What we were not expecting was Adam's Corner Rural Village. Adams Corner Rural Village is a collection of seven buildings representing Cherokee life in the 1890s before Oklahoma statehood. A self-guided tour of the rural village is part of the offerings of general admission to the Cherokee Heritage Center.

Tulsa airport field trip

For one reason or another the kids and I have not been on a homeschool field trip in a long time so we were excited to make it to this month's field trip to the airport.  It was an AMAZING field trip, they do a wonderful job.  3 hours later we knew a lot more about the airport then we did when we arrived.  The firestation at the airport was one of our favorites!

Woolaroc 2010

Our homeschool group planned a field trip to Woolaroc! Woolaroc was established in 1925 as the ranch retreat of oilman Frank Phillips. The ranch is a 3,700 acre wildlife preserve.
The mountain men just happened to be camping out so we visited them and learned so many interesting things from them. A couple of things we learned were how to shoot a rifle and how to throw a tomahawk. Then, we went on to the museum, had a picnic lunch and explored the property. It was a BEAUTIFUL day and we enjoyed spending time with Grammy, Devin, Paige and Brook (cousins).

Owasso Historical Museum

This was a children's pew at the Mennonite Church

This window was taken from the Mennonite Church that is now Discovery Bible Fellowship where we attend church

This month has been full of field trips to museums and as we were driving down Main St. in Owasso we wondered why we haven't ever been to our towns museum? HMMMM, we better stop now because we saw the open sign on the sidewalk. The Owasso Historical Museum is a neat little museum and the ladies were so helpful and told us a lot of information about the things we were looking at. We will be back to enjoy it when we have more time.

Jasmine Moran Children's Museum

We had another fun field trip with our home school group and it was to the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum in Seminole, OK. We had a great time exploring and playing at the museum. I had to make it into a slide show because we took over 200 pics! We have taken the kids to this museum several times but had not been back in a long time. We had friends that lived in Seminole and we would go visit them and go to the museum but they moved to St Kitts and we haven't been back since they moved...can you imagine moving from Seminole to St. Kitts??? I would LOVE it! Anyway back to the museum, we hadn't been in a long time and they had added a whole new wing onto it and they also added a maze outside. If you are anywhere remotely close and you have kids, grandkids, or a child in your life take them to this museum and enjoy a day of playing. I promise you're gonna love it! Kylan's favorite things was playing with the sand wheel, Kenzie and her friend Peyton loved the bubble area and I loved the germ area. You put this lotion on your hands and then rub it all in and wash your hands and then hold them under a black light oh my...it's amazing what stays on your hands! Then, if you use soap it washes almost all the germs off...Kylan and I didn this over and over. Hope this helps him wash his hands more often! LOL!!! Another thing we all loved was the tornado machine it was like you were standing in a tornado and the wind went up to 79 miles per hr...very windy! They also loved the grocery store, school room, mechanic shop, courtroom, the ambulance and the cockpit from a real airplane...lots of buttons to push and play with.

Osage Hills State Park

The famous hot hamburger with gravy over all.

After pigging out on some yummy Murphy's Steakhouse hot hamburgers we decided to do a little hiking and check out Osage Hills State Park. It was gorgeous even in the dead of winter so we can just imagine how beautiful it will be in the fall, summer and spring. Enjoy our slide show...it's a long one!
