New Recipe of the week 11-Pesto cheese bread

Sometimes the best things in life are simple!  In honor of St. Patrick's Day we decided to make cheesy pesto bread, it's super simple, the pesto is green for St Paddy's Day and it's easy to make plus it's very flavorful.

First get a loaf of french bread and slice it in half length wise.

Next get your pesto, homemade or out of a jar (we didn't make ours this time).  Spread all over both sides, we added some herbs and spices and some garlic too.

Add some mozzarella and Parmesan cheese or whatever kind of cheese you want to add.

Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Enjoy the cheesy, yummy goodness!

Last year we Shamrocked our friends, here's a post about how fun that was!  We also made puffy shamrocks which was a lot of fun but time consuming!

Puffy Shamrock

Yesterday was St. Patrick's Day and of course we did a fun craft.

1. We printed out Shamrocks from this site onto card stock

2. Cut up green tissue paper into about 1" squares

3. With the eraser end of a pencil we pressed the square around the paper

4. Dip the end around the eraser into glue

5. Pop it onto the Shamrock and repeated over and over and over.

6. When the shamrock is totally covered, glue ribbon onto the back so you can hang it!

Makenzie loved it but Kylan said it was BORING...well I guess that's an 8 yr old boy for you! You can do this craft with any pattern and any color of tissue or crepe paper. For Easter we are going to make crosses, Easter eggs, bunnies and flowers although we are going to glitter some of those too.

You've been Shamrocked!

You are welcome to use this little sign or make your own!
What's the point of Saint Patrick's Day without a little fun?  You've been Shamrocked has now become a yearly tradition so we made up Blarney Stone cookies for friends and passed them out in the tradition of You've been Boo'ed but we made signs that say, "You've been Shamrocked" we were also thinking about saying "You've been Blarney Stoned" but thought the first one sounded better. Have you ever done this for St. Patty's day (we just ruined the secret for our friends...shhhh don't tell the kids!)

Every year a lil' Leprechaun comes to our house and turns our milk green, leaves green eggs and ham and also turns all the toilet water in our house green, he's a sneaky little guy but the kids always look forward to his visits because he usually leaves a green snack too like green pudding or green rice Crispy treats! We also play a game that we made up called, "You kissed the Blarney Stone and now have the gift of gab", it's a a persuasive writing game! We really enjoy St. Patrick's Day even though we aren't Irish!
